You could save £7,500 on an air source or ground source heat pump through the new government Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS). If you’re eligible, we’ll apply for you. Find out more about the grant here.

Underfloor Heating

At Supreme Heating and Air Conditioning we’ll start with a free consultation to discuss your needs and see which type of underfloor heating system suits your project best. We then handle the full job, starting with design, to installation, then aftercare. We provide underfloor heating solutions to new-builds, heritage buildings, new floors, or projects just at the design stage.

Why choose underfloor heating?

If the comfort of walking across a warmed floor wasn’t enough, there are plenty of other reasons to invest in underfloor heating. See below:

– It’s more hygienic. As it creates less moisture than traditional radiators, the environment is less hospitable to dust mites and mould.

– Removing the need for radiators gives you more space for interior design.

– Heat is distributed evenly and consistently throughout a room, spreading across a wide surface area instead of a localised point.

– Underfloor heating systems require minimal maintenance.

– It’s 25% more efficient than radiators (which goes up to 40% more efficient when used in conjunction with a heat pump), meaning it costs less to run and is better for the environment.

– All our systems can be calibrated with smart-home apps, so you can control your home’s heating from anywhere.

– It’s safer. Underfloor heating eliminates the risk of you or your children accidentally burning themselves on a radiator.

Our Systems

Low-Profile

Low-profile underfloor heating systems are discrete and quickly installed, making them perfect for pre-existing ground and upper floors. Each panel is the height of a 5p coin (18mm) so won’t intrude on the available space in snugger rooms; for much larger spaces with less insulation, however, we recommend that you use one of our larger systems below. Once laid, the panels are strong and can support a wide range of floor finishing’s.

Suspended Floor

This system is commonly used in heritage properties with joists supporting the floorboards. First, we’ll make sure the envelope of the room is well insulated to avoid any heat loss. We’ll then place insulative boards between the joists, cut to size to allow airflow and prevent damp. Heating pipes are then evenly installed on top of the boards, followed by a layer of screed (a combination of concrete and sand) – this is to make sure the flooring is strong and the pipes are protected from collapsing. After the screed dries, the surface is ready to be finished with tiles, veneer, wooden boards, or carpet.

Solid Floor

Although this system typically concerns the ground floor of newer buildings, solid floor underfloor heating can be perfect for renovation projects. We’ll make sure the space is fully insulated, then apply a waterproof membrane as a vapour barrier that also prevents damp from rising in the floor. Insulative boards are placed down, heating pipes laid, and finally a layer of screed. Once dry, the floor is ready for finishing with a surface of your choice – if you’re unsure we’re happy to advise on this.

Pair with a heat pump for maximum efficiency.

Underfloor heating works especially well with an air source or ground source heat pump. This is because they produce hot water at lower temperatures than traditional forms of heating systems, making them far more efficient, a lower cost, and better for the environment.
